  • 1903: in Whistler's studio at his detah and bequeathed to Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958);
  • 1956: sold to Colnaghi's, London art dealers;
  • 1956: bought by William Wycliffe Spooner (1882-1967);
  • 1967: bequeathed to his wife, Mrs Mercie Spooner, Ilkley, Yorkshire, in trust for he Courtauld Galleries.

Exhibitions

  • 1874: possibly Mr Whistler's Exhibition, Flemish Gallery, 48 Pall Mall, London, 1874 (cat. no. 7) as 'Head'.
