It is just possible, if this pastel dates from a year or two earlier, that it was Red and Pink [M.1207], which was exhibited in “Notes” – “Harmonies” – “Nocturnes”, H. Wunderlich & Co., New York, 1889 (cat. no. 60).

By the terms of Freer's will, this work cannot be lent to another venue.
