• 1903: in Whistler's studio at his death, and bequeathed to his ward and executrix, Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958) ;
• 1955/1957: possibly bought by Colnaghi's, London art dealers.
• Date unknown: acquired by Edward Brian Seago (1910-1974);
• 1974: bequeathed to Peter Seymour (fl. 1952), Ludham, Norfolk, who bequeathed it to a private owner.
