Only one title has been suggested:
It was described by the Pennells as 'painted from Mr. Ross Turner's terrace ... looking down the Riva to San Biagio ... full of little figures, and with boats and a suggestion of the Lagoon, in the background.' 2
The Riva della Schiavoni, Venice, looking towards San Biagio and the Giardini Publici. An etching, Lagoon - Noon [209] shows the view from the upper floor of a house near the Casa Jankowitz, south east over the Ponte de la Veneta Marina towards the public gardens. This could well be where Whistler painted.
