Model in armchair is only known from an exhibition in 1904 to which it was lent by Howard Mansfield (1849-1938). 1 It has not been located.

However, the title suggests it may have been similar to such drawings as A seated lady [M.0692] and Study: Seated Figure [M.0694], which date from about 1878.
