• 1880: said to have been given to Katherine Colman de Kay (Mrs Arthur Bronson) (1834-1901) in Italy;
• 1901-1983: passed by family descent to a private collector;
• 1983: sold at auction, Christie's, New York, 3 June 1983 (lot 104, repr.) as 'View of Venice.'
