The drawing is on the gummed side of papier végétal paper obtained from the Paris printer Lemercier & Cie, but for some reason it was not transferred to a lithographic stone for printing. 1

Conservation History

This is a sheet of papier végétal paper, prepared for transferring a drawing to a lithographic stone. The paper has a very fine vertical grain, with small bits of stalk in it, and it has pinholes at the corner and on the right. 2
