Provenance

• 1905: bought from Obach, London art dealers, by Margaret Selkirk Watson Parker (1867-1936), 30 December 1905;
• 1936: bequeathed to the University of Michigan with a life interest to her husband, Dr Walter R. Parker (1866-1955);
• 1955: on his death, passed to the University of Michigan Museum of Art.

The early history of this drawing is not known.

Exhibitions

It is not known to have been exhibited in Whistler's lifetime.
