Venice, Italy. A view from the Casa Jankowitz in the sestiere of Castello, looking west to the Zattere, Santa Maria della Salute and the Grand Canal. ¹ Whistler made several other studies of the view, particularly at sunset, including the pastels Venetian scene m0744, Sunset; red and gold - Salute m0810, Salute - Sundown m0809 and r.: Venice: Sunset; v.: Bead-stringers m0812, and the etching, Upright Venice [232].
