The drawing is very tentative, and clearly unfinished. It is not entirely certain that this very sketchy drawing is by Whistler.

- Date unknown: with Messrs Dowdeswell, London (label).
- 1946: given by Sterling Hunkens, through Robert George McIntyre (1885-1965) of Macbeth, New York art dealers, to Randolph Macon Woman's College, Lynchburg.
