According to Edwyn ('Ted') 0swald Inglis (b. 1884) he was present when this was bought by his mother, Agnes Denny Inglis (1843-1925), but the artist 'had not been altogether pleased with it' and kept it 'for many months' while retouching it, eventually signed and returned it. 1
