Man and woman in period costume dates from 15 January 1883. It was drawn on a letter from Marcus Bourne Huish (1843-1904) that is so dated. ¹ The letter is unrelated to the drawing on the verso.

The figures may represent theatrical costumes, such as those designed by Edward William Godwin (1833-1886) from the plays put on by Janey Sevilla Campbell (Lady Archibald Campbell) (ca 1846-d.1923) and her husband at Coombe.
