Date

Flower dates from on or after 4 October 1887. It was drawn on the first side of a sheet containing drafts of a letter from Whistler to Marcus Bourne Huish (1843-1904), and of Whistler's address to Queen Victoria (1819-1901) asking for the title of 'Royal' for the Society of British Artists. These drafts are not related to the tiny drawing. 1
