The drawing is rather stiff and does not look much like Whistler's own work, but it may have been traced and used as the basis for Design for a lion for the RBA m1136. The legs are slightly different from those in Crowned lion m1134.

Technique

Details were picked out in pink wash.

Conservation History

The paper has a slight vertical grain and is very browned, with some paper loss at the left corners.
