Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958) described the sitters as 'Girls and baby on couch (?Pettigrew children)' (list for Probate, Hunterian). They are probably Rose Amy Pettigrew (1872-1958) with Harriet ('Hettie') Pettigrew (1869-1953) or Lilian Pettigrew (b. 1870), and their niece.
