It was catalogued in MacDonald 1995 (cat. rais.) [more] (cat. no. 1325) as possibly by Whistler, but it is more likely to be by Beatrice Philip (Mrs E. W. Godwin, Mrs J. McN. Whistler) (1857-1896).

The long, bold lines look more like the work of Beatrice Philip (Mrs E. W. Godwin, Mrs J. McN. Whistler) (1857-1896) than her husband.

Conservation History

It is on a single sheet, torn from a folded sheet of stationery (the torn edge is above the figures). The paper has a slight grain. The sketch was drawn at right angles to the letter on the verso. The sheet has been folded in quarters , and the folds are dirty.
