• 1903: in Whistler's studio at his death and bequeathed to his sister‑in‑law, Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958);
• 1957: sold to P.& D. Colnaghi Ltd, London art dealers, on 22 October 1957;
• 1958: bought from Colnaghi's by The Higgins Gallery and Museum, January 1958.
