Self-Portrait dates from 1867. 1
On 5 February 1867 William Michael Rossetti (1829-1919) saw 'a clever vivacious portrait of himself begun' in Whistler's house in Lindsey Row, Chelsea. 2 There is no further record of this.

The Pennells thought it was the self-portrait owned by George McCulloch (1848-1907) (Arrangement in Grey: Portrait of the Painter y122) but that appears to date from 1872. 5
